East Dean
Village Fete

Raised...Over £2,600!

Here's some pictures and a report from East Dean Village Fete this year from Martin Gibbard.

A great afternoon in the valley
The oracle from East Dean was right yet again – the sun did shine! Max and Eden’s garden looked lovely and everybody enjoyed this fund raising and social village event. Whether rummaging at the bric-a-brac, bookstall or finding a bargain at the plant sale, there was something for everybody. As always, a big thank you to our hosts and particularly to Karen Barrett who co-ordinated the afternoon. Commenting afterwards Karen said “we have had a really great afternoon and I think everybody had a good time. I’m sure the number of visitors is significantly up on last year. We must have had around 600 people. The run on teas, soft drinks, ices and strawberries and cream was tremendous – we couldn’t keep up with the demand! A total of well over £2600 was made towards church funds, which is a great result and more than last year. Well done to everybody and thank you all for putting in such hard work to make the day happen.”

A big thank you to all who attended, supported and organised this year's fete. We told you it was going to be sunny and so it was ...a bit too sunny for some! As always, a huge thank you to Max and Eden Davies for letting us run riot in their garden - it has to be one of the most lovely settings for such an event. The pictures here are a memory of the day. Click on them for a larger version.

The bric a brac stall was busy all afternoon

...as was the tombola

For some it was a matter of a snooze in the shade!

The coolest place to be? ...yes you've guessed it ...the pool

What a lovely setting for our Church Fete

A Shady Place to sell books

The tractor rides for children were popular - "nothing runs like a Deere"

The toy stall kept busy

Ice Creams did a Roaring Trade

...as did the Plant Stall
