Letter From The Secretary

Dear Lavant Valley Villagers, Fete Attendees, and Friends,

Re. Singleton Village Fete Saturday 22 July 2006.

I am pleased to write on behalf of the Committee to express sincere thanks to everybody who sponsored, provided, helped and attended at this years Singleton Fete.

It was again a tremendous success, both in financial terms, as we raised well over £3,500.00; and as an amenity for the Valley and surrounding areas.

This year we had a record of over 500 people attending amongst other things to listen to the 40 strong Bognor Regis Concert Band ( and they were really splendid ) and enjoy the usual traditional fete attractions; a Coconut shy, book stall, cakes, tombola, retro clothing, etc., etc., etc.,

All of this was observed, and overlooked from on high by Neville, one of the Shire Horses from the Singleton Open Air Museum, who popped in for the afternoon.

Well done everybody who was in any way involved, a really great event.

The date for the Fete next year has yet to be announced, but look out for it, as this is definitely an annual event not to be missed, and new participants will be most welcome

Many thanks,

The Secretary (01243 811451)

£3,500 Raised at Singleton Fete
A HUGE thank you to all who contributed this year to the Fete which raised over £3,500. The Tombola Team would like to say a special thank you as it was able to raise over £500 - a record! They could not have done it without your generosity.

Feedback and Photos
From Jenny Martin
The tombola was the biggest I have ever seen and must have raised a tidy sum and there was enough bric-a-brac to fill a hall! Cakes, teas and ice-cream was very strong and so was the raffle. There was the forty-piece Bognor Regis Concert Band who played for an hour and went down very well. Thanks Jenny. Here's a few of Jenny's snaps. Click on them for larger versions...

SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER 2005
The fete was held at Sheepwash Meadow, by kind permission of the Singleton Cricket Club. For your information, the Steering Committee comprised: Paul Andrews (Chairman), David Mather (Secretary), Ann Pollock (Personnel) & Ion Castagli (Logistics). With the approval of the Rector a 'steering committee' of village residents was set up to spearhead the organisation of this important event in the village calendar. The date of the event was agreed with the Cricket Club and coincided with the Totally Tomato event at West Dean Gardens. It was a fine sunny day for the fete, which is always a good start, and the Committee were very pleased with the response and attendance from local people. It was felt that the fete was a real community affair, and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was enjoyed by everyone involving many new people and different sideshows and displays. Here's some photos of the event...

£2000 Raised!
Yes. Over £2000 was raised by this day of fun and everyone involved would like to thank everyone who gave of their money, time, energy and enthusiasm in doing so. Lots of people have gone out of their way and spent a lot of their time in making this event a great success. Well done!
We'll look back on this great achievement and forward to an even bigger and more profitable event in 2003.

Thank you
